Rumor: EA to Sue South Park Regarding Tiger Woods Parody
by Eric Bush
The boys over at Comedy Central's raunchy cartoon South Park are infamous for taking delicate topics and making them hilarious on television, all at the expense of whoever is involved - this past week it focused on the Tiger Woods situation. None of this would be news for PlanetXbox360.com if they had not thrown in the connection to EA Sports and a snark at the upcoming Xbox 360 video game. Rumors are that the team at EA got together, even informing head-haunch Peter Moore, as soon as the episode aired and discussed how to respond to the situation. The situation could even escalate to legal matters, which to Matt Stone and Trey Parker would be nothing new. Rumor has it that EA Sports will proceed a case against them for copyright infringement, we assume because the show used the Tiger Woods PGA Tour name without proper approval. Either way we will update this story with any official response or more news on the situation; we have embedded the clip from last week's episode of South Park below for your viewing pleasure (the funny thing is parent company Viacom removed the original video from YouTube claiming copyright infringement, seems kind of hypocritical).
Update: Good news South Park fans, EA Sports very own PR manager Rob Semsey has posted to his Twitter account: "Reports that EA SPORTS plans to sue the creators of South Park are false."
