3. Half-Life 3: Breaking Half-Life 2 into episodic releases was supposed to keep the fans satiated until the release of Half-Life 3. Unfortuantely, Valve found a whole plethora of other projects to work on in the meantime. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not about to say that Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal weren’t worthwhile adventures, but come on, it’s been a bit and I think we’re all getting a bit antsy. Also, think of the inevitable internet firestorm that would occur when we find out that this is the Half-Life where we find out that Gordon Freeman uses portals – or talks. Really, either would work. Just give us another Half-Life. Now!

2. Halo Gets Reached: The multiplayer beta and E3 will fall relatively close to each other this year, so by the time the Expo gets underway a fair amount of the community that bought ODST will certainly have had an eyeful of Halo: Reach. It’s at this point that they open it up to the rest of the public so people can begin getting excited for this fall. Supposedly being the last of the Halo games that Bungie will directly have a hand in, they want to go out with a bang. Here’s hoping that whatever they show off blows a mind or two.
1. Natal Better Move Us: There are two schools of thought on the motion gimmick. Either it is useless or it actually matters a great deal. Bottom line. If you don’t believe me, go and wipe the dust off your Wii and come back. No, really, I’ll wait. For everyone else who cares about motion control in games, Sony’s offering still strikes me as mediocre at best. Suffice to say, they haven’t showed me anything yet that Nintendo didn’t do four years ago. Thus, it rests on Microsoft to show something that will strike not just the gaming community, but popular culture as a whole that they are creating something truly innovative. While nothing has trickled out of Redmond for months regarding Natal, set to release in the Holiday season of this year, it can only be guessed at what Microsoft has up their sleeve. In the end, they not only have to blow Nintendo out of the water, but put to rest anything Sony has as well. It should be interesting, but it better illustrate innovation a bit better than Move.

That's it for the top ten things we think Microsoft and the Xbox 360 needs to do at the E3 2010 expo to conquer the show; throw in a couple of surprise game announcements and we will be totally stoked. Stay tuned to PlanetXboxe360.com later this year for full E3 2010 coverage, from the show floor in Los Angeles, CA (click here).
