The Electronic Entertainment Expo shares quite a few qualities with the holiday Christmas. It comes once a year, requires a significant amount of presentational preparation for all parties involved, and gamers can’t help but look forward to it with a ravenous intent of excitement (the gaming press not so much). While we may not wake up and find a slew of new video games under a tree, stuffed in a stocking or left under our pillow as various traditions dictate, E3 gives gamers a plethora of new games to look forward to and a vast array of new announcements that excite and incense fanboys across the globe. So sit back, relax and feast your eyes on what will surely be the top 10 most anticipated titles expected to be shown at E3 this year.

10. DJ Hero 2: While admittedly this one is a bit more personal – it is nonetheless a highly anticipated showing that will garner a laudable amount of attention from the cult following the original proclaimed. Certainly not the popularity equal of Rock Band 3 or whatever Guitar Hero title will be in the pipeline for release sometime in the next twelve to eighteen months, it’s still exciting to see what the hope is of an additional iteration from a design and gameplay standpoint. Not necessarily the most revolutionary title on the horizon, but it is without a doubt a game that was deserving not just of improvement following the initially offered material of the first DJ Hero – but an expansion on gameplay so that the series would have a lateral space to grow. In the event that the design lessons have been taken to heart that the first provided, this could be a very big future release for Activision and break out of the relatively small cult following that has been harbored in the gaming community.
9. Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds: Enough time has not only passed to make this game have a following that rivals that of Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, but for the blatant and outright demand on Capcom to follow through and deliver something that will be so incredible, it might cause 360’s to explode upon play. While the original and sequel were lauded very high in the gaming community and realistically, damn awesome games to play, the precedence here might be that the bar has now been set so high that Capcom doesn’t stand a hope of hurdling it and delivering a competently incredible experience to the waiting faithful.

8. Dead Space 2: After watching the teaser trailer for the next adventure following Isaac Clarke – it’s clear to even the most untrained eye that all has not been right inside his head since the events depicted in the original. While the Ishimura turned out to be a deathtrap, relatively speaking, the creepy and utterly terrifying visceral experience that awaited players in the first incarnation was more than enough to warrant a sequel. Offering a distinct flavor that shied away from franchises such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil or even Aliens – Dead Space 2 is one spooky, freakin’ game and if the same artistic excellence is put forth that was dripping off the first – it’ll be one fantastically horrific experience.
