Lost Planet Sells 20,000 Units in Japanby Nelson Rodriguez
Japanese developer Capcom let their home market get access to the very hot, yet very cold new Lost Planet, and 20,000 Japanese consumers jumped on the deal in the first day. Is that good or bad? I know that many of you could not care less about Japanese sales figures, and the sales in Japan won't influence sales in the United States, but I am just wondering whether or not 20,000 copies sold is a success or a failure.
One article about the topic seems to think that this is evidence of a resistant Japanese market. I know it's not 2 million - like Gears - but 20,000 sold seems perfectly reasonable for a market that many consider antagonistic to the Xbox 360 brand. There is now the equivalent of a small town (or a city block in New York), of Japanese gamers who got behind one Xbox 360 title, and a shooter at that.
