343 Industries Confirms Master Chief’s Story Not Quite Over

    by Garrett Grothe

If you had the guts to finish Halo 3 on Legendary, you were treated to an ending displaying the fact that Master Chief was indeed still alive in the remains of an unknown space ship, floating towards what looked to be a hostile planet. Chief then went into cryosleep and asked Cortana to “Wake me when you need me.”

It’s been almost three years since Halo 3 launched, and a continuation of that final scene seemed as though it would never be told. Fear not Halo fans, Frank O’Connor took stage at Comic-Con 2010 and assured fans that "We'd [343 Industries Studio] have to be the world's biggest a**holes not to follow through.” He went on to further assuage the crowd’s fears by saying that "We certainly haven't seen the last of Master Chief."

With the release of Halo: Reach approaching later this year, we can only hope that the next installment of the Halo series will put our beloved protagonist, Master Chief, in a starring role once again (coming from 343 Industries not past-developer Bungie).
