One of the coolest news stories to break this week has to do with a console that was released nearly two decades ago, the Atari 2600. Ed Fries, formerly of Microsoft Games (the man solely responsible for signing Bungie to the Xbox), has gone and created a little game by the name of Halo 2600 (created using just 4 kilobytes of data). The Atari 2600 cartridge (pictured below) was unveiled at the Classic Gaming Expo in Las Vegas this past weekend with a limited run of only 100 physical copies (playable only on the Atari 2600). Thankfully for all of us that don't have a twenty year old console Mr. Fries also made a flash version that is fully playable in a web browser, at the website

Halo 2600 plays very much like a classic adventure game, one that involves a byte-sized version of Master Chief and other enemies instantly recognizable from the Halo franchise. There are over 60 rooms to explore, most with energy barriers that require a key to unlock. The game features a couple different difficulty levels and is actually a blast to play through, we recommend anyone that is even a minute fan of the Halo series to check it out by clicking here (www.halo2600.com) or at the link above/below. Congrats go out to Ed Fries for creating something so fun and original, with perfect timing for the release of the next-gen Bungie game Halo: Reach, which releases in the middle of next month (September).
