Bungie Will Update Two Halo 2 Maps for Use in Halo: Reach

    by Garrett Grothe

Midship and Ivory Tower are making a glorious return in Halo: Reach next month, with updated layouts, visuals and new names. Zealot, previously Midship, is now comprised of three levels with the new floor featuring lower gravity and some kind of shield separating the new floor from the bottom two. This shield blocks projectiles and once passed through will let you shortly float. Zealot has some big changes from Midship, but you’ll still notice the influence of Midship. Reflection, the update to Ivory Tower is a heck of a lot shinier and according to IGN is much easier to navigate with the use of the jetpack, plus the use of the new hologram armor can be used easily at almost every corner.

Along with the Halo 2 maps being remade, a third map known as Spire was also revealed. Spire is developed around Invasion mode. Spartans must start at the bottom of the tower and take each floor one by one forcing the Elites to the top floor. Should make for an intense final stand for the Covenant in each match, with sniper perches and spots to welcome Spartans when they arrive in the top floor.

I’m already dying to get my hands on these new maps as well as Halo: Reach when it’s released in just a little over a month. That wait will be long and unforgiving. Stay tuned for a full review of Halo: Reach for the Xbox 360 in a couple weeks, as the September release date nears.

About: As the blockbuster prequel to the best-selling Xbox franchise of all time, developed exclusively for Xbox 360 by acclaimed developer Bungie, “Halo: Reach” puts you front and center in the fateful moments that forged the “Halo” legend. As part of Noble Team, a squad of heroic Spartan soldiers, you will be called upon to defend the planet Reach, humankind’s last line of defense between the terrifying Covenant and Earth. Starting on May 3, the “Halo: Reach” public multiplayer beta will give you the opportunity to drive the latest advancements in multiplayer gameplay in the blockbuster franchise that started it all on Xbox LIVE. Access to the beta will be available through the “Halo 3: ODST” game disc on Xbox LIVE.
