Today 2K Games released the single-player demo for it's highly anticipated Xbox 360 open-world mobster game, Mafia II, which hits game retailers later this month - August 24, 2010 to be specific; the demo weighs in at right around 1GB and is available right now for download (use the link below or head to the Marketplace on your Xbox 360). We got a chance to spend a couple hours with Mafia II a few weeks ago and came away thoroughly impressed with the sandbox gameplay and progressing timeline. About: Mafia II is a beautifully crafted look into the dark and unforgiving world of the Mafia. Hi-octane gunplay, brutal fighting and white-knuckle driving bust onto the screen as a Hollywood-style cinematic experience. It is the intriguing story of Vito Scaletta, who along with his childhood friend, Joe, will descend into the world of organized crime. Together, they will work to prove themselves to the Mafia as they try to make their names on the streets. Starting with low-level jobs like robbery and stealing cars, Vito and Joe escalate quickly up the Mafia family ladder…but the life as a wise guy isn’t quite as glamorous as it seems. Like the original Mafia title, Mafia 2 immerses players in the mob underworld of a fictitious late 1940's-early 1950's scenario. Players will easily become engaged in the game's cinematic Hollywood movie experience with strong, believable characters in a living, breathing city. By fusing high octane gunplay with white knuckle driving and an engaging narrative, Mafia 2 looks to be the industry's most compelling Mafia title to date.
