Halo: Reach has been snagged from the Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE Marketplace servers a little more than 3 weeks before its launch. The game was reportedly uploaded to the online marketplace earlier this week for media review purposes, but a group of modders ‘claim’ to have broken through security and subsequently downloaded it. The group stated "This is not released for public, and we are not really planning on releasing either." Editor’s Update: The leaked copy of Halo: Reach has begun showing up on Torrent Tracker sites around the world, allowing those with hacked Xbox 360 consoles to download and play the upcoming video game. This is of course illegal so we here at PlanetXbox360.com do not in any way condone this type of behavior, the development team at Bungie worked their asses off to create a FPS masterpiece and deserve to have it paid for; wait for Halo: Reach to release in-stores in mid-September.
While the leak is currently confined to the group of hackers, Microsoft is hard at work hunting the group. Microsoft told Joystiq "We are aware of claims being made regarding a security exploit related to 'Halo: Reach' and are aggressively investigating the matter.” Since the leak revolves around one of Microsoft’s most coveted franchises, justice will undoubtedly be had at some point and we wouldn’t be surprised if it involved some sort of teabagging.
