Despite the fallout that has been plaguing Major Nelson and Xbox Live this week following the announcement that Xbox Live Gold Membership would be increasing by $10, it seems the outrage is probably not going to end there.
If you want to pick up a real Xbox Live Gold Membership card, instead of having to sign up for a renewable account, which is notoriously difficult to get out of, it just got a whole lot more difficult. In the wake of news that the service would begin costing more, prices for the cards jumped up significantly as of today.
Going from a measly $39.99, which was actually $10 less than what Microsoft was charging for their Xbox Live Service to a shockingly high $75 may have been one of the harsher nails in the coffin since the announcement was made via Major Nelson's blog this past Monday. However, the resulting scarcity of the cards could point in a multitude of directions - namely that people still want Xbox Live without feeling like they're paying an arm and a leg for it.
12 months Xbox Live Gold Memberships increase in price from $50 to $60 on November 1, 2010.
