100 Copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops Stolen from GameStop

It seems as though some people out there just can't wait for Call of Duty: Black Ops to hit the normal retail channels because over the weekend two gun-wielding criminals held-up a Baltimore area GameStop for more than 100 copies of the highly-anticipated first-person shooter. Black Ops is being developed by Treyarch Studios and published by Activision Blizzard and is scheduled to release on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC tomorrow. The robbery happened just before closing time in the Festival at Bel Air shopping center, as the thief's entered the GameStop and pulled semi-automatic weapons, demanding every copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops that was in stock. It was the second armed robbery of a Harford County GameStop store in less than three weeks; the sheriff's office said the men might also be responsible for the other incident, at the GameStop's Aberdeen location on October 21st.

Editor's Note: Our detailed review of Call of Duty: Black Ops is now live, read it by clicking here.

A few unlucky customers happened to walk in during the hold-up and were placed in the stock room, thankfully no employees or customers were harmed. It's unclear for what reason the crime was perpetrated but we would assume that the thieves are looking to unload a couple thousand dollars worth of the game, before it's official release date. As of this writing no new information on the crime has been discovered and no copies of Black Ops have shown up on the black market, representatives for GameStop declined our request for interview. No word on whether or not customers who had pre-ordered COD: Black Ops at the unlucky store would get their game on launch day, our guess is they will. Stay tuned for our official review of Call of Duty: Black Ops tomorrow and make your own decision as to whether the game is good enough to warrant this type of criminal behavior - read it now (click here).
