Unlocking Xbox Achievements will require hours upon hours of gameplay. The achievements are linked to completing Sonic’s, Shadow’s and Silver’s episodes, as well as finding all the hidden items, and getting the highest possible score on every side mission. You’ll definitely log a lot of time with Sonic and company before Sega will throw you a bone.
Sega’s latest incarnation of Sonic the Hedgehog falls short of what should have been a great game for all ages. I’ve seen this game ripped to shreds by various gaming pundits, but I think it’s worth a 5 day rental for most people. Sure Sega could have done much more to make this game more enjoyable. It’s almost like Sonic had a 15th birthday party and none of the guests showed up. I feel that the gameplay variety is worth a look. Then again, maybe I’m just overly nostalgic when I remember how fun and addictive the Genesis game was. I’m looking forward to Sonic 2.0 for the Xbox 360, but Sega will have to retool the game from the ground up for the next installment.
