Earlier this year, one of the PlanetXbox360 freelancers wrote an article on the top 10 reasons why you should not date a gamer girl (click here to read the original piece) <- READ FIRST – and it had mixed results among our readers. While his parody piece is somewhat valid (depending on who the girl is), and can be closer to the truth more often than not, there are also many upsides to dating a girl who on occasion (or all the time for that matter) enjoys playing video games. So without further adieu, we present the top 10 reasons dating a gamer girl is awesome.
10. Never Having to Play Split-Screen: It means she loves you as much as you love your big screen real estate. No matter how big your TV is; it's never the same when you have to share half of it with your girlfriend. Luckily for you, she has her own TV right next to yours and her own copy of the game for the Xbox 360.
9. The Break Up: It won't be as bad as it could be if you had to share your games. Going through a break up is always difficult, but having to part with your games and your girl would be twice as hard. If you were dating a gamer though, you'll have your games and gear while she'll have hers. You'll never be paranoid about having your games, system, headset or hard drive stolen because she wants to get back at you. Since the saves were separate from the beginning and she has her own, you're in the clear.
8. No Midnight Compromise: How many times have you heard a friend whine about not being allowed to go to a midnight launch for the latest and greatest video game because the significant other said no? I have, and it's painful. Going out late and waiting for the newest release with your buddies is a ritual for some, and being held back by a significant other is so embarrassing and can lead to unwanted crap from the boys. This is where having a gamer girlfriend is bad ass. She joins you at the midnight and talks the talk with you and holds her own with the guys. Needless to say it's very impressive not only to you, but to your Xbox Live party, who instantly become jealous of you because of your woman.
