Xbox 360 Dominates Console Sales - November NPD Results

The November NPD sales figures are out for the North America video game industry, and today Microsoft's very own Major Nelson revealed some Xbox 360 related news to share with you. Even though the data is not as informative as it was before the NPD changed their reporting system it still provides a general look at who our beloved industry is fairing - 2.95 BILLION dollars in total video game related sales for the month of November; of course Call of Duty: Black Ops, the biggest entertainment launch in history, may be the cause for a couple billion in spent cash. Still the overall sales were better by almost 10% from this month last year (huge Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales had a hand in the positive as well); a good sign that our industry isn't going anywhere soon. The NP doesn't reveal accessory sales so for now we don't know the exact number of Kinect and PS Move units sold in the month of November. Make sure to check out the Microsoft Xbox 360 related sales date below:

    • November marks the sixth consecutive month Xbox 360 leads video game consoles in sales, with 1.37 million units sold. (Source: NPD Group, November 2010)
    • Xbox 360 is the only console to show double digit year-to-date growth at 42%, making it the fastest-growing console in 2010. (Source: NPD Group, November 2010)
    • 50% of spending at retail this November (for current generation consoles) was on the Xbox 360 platform. (Source: NPD Group, November 2010)
    • During the month of November, four of the top ten console game titles were for Xbox 360 including: Call of Duty: Black Ops, Fable III, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Halo: Reach. (Source: NPD Group, November 2010) Call of Duty: Black Ops for Xbox 360 was the number one selling console game in November. (Source: NPD Group, November 2010)
