Recently there has been a lot of controversy going around the internet surrounding an iPhone game from Capcom Mobile, titled MaXplosion, because of it's striking similarity to the Xbox LIVE Arcade game Splosion Man (a fantastic game by the way) from Twisted Pixel. The head-hauncho of Twisted Pixel and a couple other developers from the small indie-studio even tweeted their thoughts on the situation, saying they were disturbed by the obvious copy-catting that took place via Capcom's latest iPhone project and that they won't be taking legal action because of Capcom's mega-size. Finally we have heard from Capcom themselves as they sent out a somewhat vague response to the guys over at Joystiq. Unfortunately copy-cats thrive on the iPhone App Store and we doubt that will be changing anytime soon. Even so we're not sure exactly what transpired in this specific situation (Twisted Pixel also pitched Splosion Man to Capcom some time ago and were turned down), but judge for yourselves via the below screenshot and video trailer - let us know in the comments what you think about the similarities between the two downloadable games.
"While Twisted Pixel did have discussions with our console game team about publishing 'Splosion Man' on game consoles, Capcom Mobile is a different division of Capcom with separate offices and as such, had no prior knowledge of any meetings between the console game team and Twisted Pixel. 'MaXplosion' was developed independently by Capcom Mobile. Nonetheless, we are saddened by this situation and hope to rebuild the trust of our fans and friends in the gaming community."
