The Gears of War 3 beta is pretty awesome, isn’t it? And we still have two weeks before it all wraps up, giving us an outstanding start to the summer. But it’s a shame we can’t really invite our friends without beta codes into the fray...or can we? Microsoft has introduced a new incentive program that will grant buddy tokens, enabling you to invite friends into the beta starting on May 8th. Here’s how it works.
All players of the Gears 3 beta will automatically be granted one token. This token can be turned around to anyone on their friend’s list, giving them access to download and enter the beta. Now, additional tokens can be earned in a number of ways.
- If the player in question has spent more than 100 hours on a Gears of War 3 product (1 or 2, or if they’ve spent enough time on the beta)
- If the player spent more than 20 hours in the beta
- If the player has purchased any Gears of War content through the Xbox Live Marketplace (Avatar gear, games, etc.)
- If the player purchases a 12-month subscription to Xbox Live Gold
That’s an opportunity to earn five tokens in all, letting you invite five friends to finish the fight for a whole week! You’ve got until Wednesday, May 4th, to complete these incentives before the tokens are distributed. Looks like you’ve got some work to do.
