Namco Bandai continues to be dominant when it comes to sales. While the company isn’t making the kind of gangbusters money to be passing around, it did post a profit for its fiscal season ending March 31. It boasted a moderate income of $38.5 million for the season, a nice change of pace from the $46.9 million loss it posted last year.
This is due to a pair of big release titles. Tekken 6 sold moderately well for both PS3 and Xbox 360, with over 1.15 million units sold. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 also performed admirably, with 1.1 million units sold since its release. That’s a lot of ninjas.
Enslaved didn’t do nearly as bad as many people thought it would. Over 730,000 copies shuffled out the door since its release, though Namco was hoping for something more in the 800,000 realm. As for the company’s other big titles, Majin and Splatterhouse, both moved just under 400,000 copies apiece, below the company’s expectations.
Still, it’s been a good year for Namco, and hopefully the rest of 2011 brings more big titles, such as the next Dragon Ball game and a few others. We’ll see what they’ve got cooking come E3.
