Crackdown is Here with a Bonus

    by Nelson Rodriguez

After all the ups and downs, hype and debate, Microsoft's Crackdown has finally arrived at stores and the Xbox Live Marketplace has a fancy new download pack to fill out your super agent ranks.  Now that the game is ready to purchase, thousands of gamers will find that the Halo 3 beta key is not active and cannot be scribbled down after a quick rental.

You will, however, find a free download waiting for you.  In addition to a day one patch to fix some multiplayer lag, there is a content pack featuring four new agent skins.  When you launch the game, you will be prompted to visit the marketplace, which can be done directly from the Crackdown menu.  The four skins feature super-military headgear, but don't change gameplay at all.

The game was developed by some of the same fellows who put together the first three Grand Theft Auto games.  Instead of the GTA reputation for hooker killing, Crackdown delivers a superhero-inspired platformer with an open world design.  The title was heavily preordered, some say due to the Halo 3 beta, but the following weeks will reveal whether or not the game can stand on its own.

Anyone have the full version yet?  Spill your thoughts.
