A 14 year old Dublin hacker, who managed to hack Modern Warfare 2, is now working with Microsoft instead of being punished.
Speaking at the Bank of Ireland Business Week last week, General Manager of Microsoft in Ireland Paul Rellis stated that Microsoft is taking measures to ensure that Xbox Live does not become breached like the PlayStation Network. To assist them, Rellis announced that they have hired the young computer hacker who will use his talents and skills to prevent the possible hacking of Xbox Live.
Last month, the student successfully hacked Modern Warfare 2 and Xbox Live, causing a worldwide panic with players fearing that they had become a victim of identity fraud. It was during this time that Microsoft sent out notices stating that players may have become victims of “phishing” while playing Modern Warfare 2.
Rellis stated that at the conference that they had discovered who the perpetrator was some time after the incident. However, Microsoft is taking measures to ensure that his name is not revealed.
