Coming as a surprise to almost no one who has been paying attention, the much anticipated sequel to Mercenaries is no longer a PS3 exclusive and is slated for a same-day launch on the 360. Electronic Arts announced today that the Pandemic-developed title will be arriving on three consoles and the PC in time for the holidays this year.
We told you about some some signs that PS3 exclusivity would be broken, back when Pandemic produced a video focusing on the team behind Merc's 2. The vid inadvertently showed off several 360 controllers at the development team workstations. Pandemic has explained that Mercenaries 2 was planned as a cross-platform title all along.
“Mercenaries 2: World in Flames delivers the next evolution in explosive open world gameplay – regardless of the system you play it on,” said Pandemic Studios CEO Andrew Goldman.
“All four platforms are incredible gaming machines, and from the beginning we designed an experience that accentuates their individual strengths and delivers the interactive freedom and explosive action Mercenaries fans demand.”
So, is anyone surprised about this little bit of "news"? Haven't we seen this coming?
