Most gamers would agree that Dragon Age II was a bit underwhelming. In fact, many would argue that the series took a several steps back when comparing it to its predecessor. Fortunately, BioWare is aware of these issues and assures fans that the next installment won't disappoint. Lead designer Mike Laidlaw made note of some of the game's shortcomings, including "level re-use, the implementation of wave combat, concerns about the narrative and significance of choice."
He went on to say, "I'm not only aware of the concerns, but I agree that there are aspects of DA II that not only can but must be improved in future installments. And that is precisely our intent."
