With E3 2011 less than a week away (and Microsoft’s press conference coming even sooner than that), there’s already buzz as to what we could possibly expect from Microsoft and the third-party developers this year at the big show. More Kinect-exclusive titles, the possible return of some old favorites, a possible price drop…anything and everything in rumors is being passed around. With that, I have a few estimations as to what we can look forward to at the big event this year. Now, these may (or may not) be accurate, but I think they’re pretty damn good guesses. Let’s get started with the PlanetXbox360 E3 2011 Wishlist for me, Robert.
1. Halo HD, and a Possible Reach Sequel: Even though Bungie has moved on to greener pastures over at Activision, that doesn’t mean that Microsoft is ready to give up on Halo. We already know some kind of Master Chief induced announcement is forthcoming, and here it is. This year will bring the much-rumored Halo HD remix for Xbox Live Arcade, coming in at $14.99. In addition, a second chapter in the Halo Reach saga, dealing with another part of Master Chief’s universe, will be announced for 2012, complete with new multiplayer options and a co-op campaign.
2. Forza Motorsport 4 Will Go Global, and Introduce New Features: Microsoft is probably going to bet big money on Forza Motorsport 4, considering that the third chapter in the series performed so remarkably. Part four will bring a number of new worldwide tracks, as well as online events where players can take part in real-life tournaments for prizes. In addition, look for a new community feature that will top Gran Turismo’s, featuring a number of team sponsorship options and even more livery design options to play around with.
3. Project Gotham Racing Will Return, Along with Geometry Wars: Project Gotham Racing 4 was a real treat before Bizarre Creations moved on to Activision – and eventually shuttered. However, look for Microsoft to reclaim its racing territory in early 2012 with a new chapter in the Project Gotham racing series, with a development team that features many faces from the closed Bizarre studio. In addition, look for the hidden Geometry Wars mini-game to make a comeback, with a possible expanded game coming to XBLA in 2012.
