Dead Island will be shipping with a Special Edition when it launches sometime in the future (no official release date is known at this point). It is available as an automatic upgrade for early pre-order customers at GameStop stores nationwide for a limited time, while supplies last.
Dead Island, the upcoming gruesome zombie action game with RPG elements by developer Techland, combines first-person action with a heavy focus on melee combat, character development and customization of a vast array of weapons. All of these gameplay features are presented in a dark story inspired by classic zombie movies with a gritty and engrossing campaign that can be played with up to four players in co-op mode.
The perks of picking up the Special Edition are as follows:
- “Bloodbath” DLC
- Exclusive weapon: The Brain Wave Bomb
- Exclusive cover art
- Blueprint of “The Ripper,” a weapon that is half baseball bat, half buzz saw
The Bloodbath DLC contains both single-player and multi-player challengers, giving gamers an opportunity to kill off increasingly difficult waves of the undead in four separate locations. If gamers do not buy the Special Edition, this DLC will be released shortly after the launch date for 800msp ($10). The Special Edition is only available for early pre-order customers while supplies last.
