Wow. Xbox 360 fans have a lot to be excited about, as the Microsoft press conference blew the lid off of a number of exciting exclusives as well as an all new dashboard chockfull of exciting features. While the 360 may only have a handful of major exclusives this year, enough new content was shown from both third and first party developers to make any Xbox owner giddy with joy. If you missed the jam-packed show earlier today, fear not for we have taken the time to compile a rundown of all the major announcements at the conference. So without further ado, here we go.
Modern Warfare 3 Demo - Microsoft started off their conference with a bang by giving gamers the first ever glimpse of an actual mission from the highly anticipated Modern Warfare 3. The demonstration gave us a look at a section of the game set in New York, starting off in the waters beneath the Brooklyn Tunnel. Tomb Raider Gameplay Revealed - Fans of Lara Croft rejoice! Crystal Dynamics took the stage after Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward’s rather impressive showing, and while the Call of Duty demo was undoubtedly a tough act to follow, Square’s Tomb Raider reboot was up to the challenge. Sporting gorgeous visuals and unique gameplay, Tomb Raider is certainly on the right track. This may just be the title to revitalize the dieing franchise. Don’t believe me? Check out the footage here and tell me you’re not sold.
Mass Effect 3 Makes Use of Kinect - To no one’s surprise, Bioware then took the stage to show off some of Mass Effect 3’s new features, most notably voice recognition with Kinect. While it won’t do much to revolutionize the way we will play Mass Effect, it is certainly an intriguing option for Kinect owners. Gamers were also treated to some impressive gameplay footage which can be viewed right here.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Makes Use of Kinect as Well - In another effort to appeal to the hardcore crowd, Microsoft invited Ubisoft to the stage to show off Kinect integration within their latest Ghost Recon title. The voice and/or gesture based weapon customization mode was particularly intriguing. You can read all about it as well as see it in action right here.
CliffyB and Ice-T Demo Gears 3 - To round out a fantastic lineup of impressive game demos, Microsoft ushered Epic Games designer CliffyB to the stage. As he and famed celeb Ice-T worked together cooperatively through a section of the campaign, I couldn’t help but gaze in awe at the gorgeous visuals and sheer scope of the game. You’re really missing out if you haven't seen the demonstration for yourself. Fortunately if you head over here, we’ve got you covered.
