Last May, the Eidos Interactive website was hacked. More recently, the Codemasters website was hacked. Now, Epic Games can be added to the list of recently compromised developers. Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, revealed that e-mail and passwords had been taken and advises all users change their passwords and update their security information. Tim Sweeny went on to assure users:
“The Unreal Developer Network (UDN) has not been compromised. None of our web sites ask for, or store, credit card information or other sensitive customer data. We're sorry for the inconvenience, and appreciate everyone's patience as we get our servers back under control."
This recent trend in hacking developer websites is probably a copy-cat response to the hacking of the PlayStation Network earlier in the year. Hopefully it cools down soon.
