PopCap Games makes some of the most addictive games on the planet, including such XBLA hits as Plants vs. Zombies, Peggle and the upcoming Bejeweled 3. So they’re worth a lot of money. For someone, one billion dollars.
According to a news story posted on TechCrunch, the developer of the mega-hit games may have been sold for that exact sum. That’s a surprising amount, and proof positive that video games continue to be big business. So who bought them? Well, the buyer is being kept secret at the moment, but rumors are circulating that it’s none other than Electronic Arts.
We’ll have more info once the purchase becomes official. But still, this is a BOLD move for EA, and a big push for its casual game market.
