Did you enjoy chain-sawing locusts with the gold-plated lancer in Gears of War 2? Us too! That’s why we’re happy to report that unlockable gear from the previous Gears titles will be also available in Gears of War 3. Rod Fergusson, Executive Producer of Gears of War 3, explains that gamers who have supported the Gears of War franchise in the past will be rewarded by supporting it in the future.
“Two of the weapon skins are based on historical weapon skins, so if you want the gold lancer and the gold hammerburst in Gears 3, you get them by owning the gold hammerburst and the gold lancer in Gears 2, so those skins transfer over,” Fergusson explained.
Gears of War unlocks are often based on completed achievements. “Generally whenever we do unlocks, we do it based on Achievements. That’s why I’ve been trying to tell people about the level 100 thing. No, it’s not about getting level 100, it’s about Veteran Gear. Get that Achievement and that’ll get you something. I don’t care if you’re level 100, you have to have the Veteran Gear achievement,” stressed Fergusson. Bonuses for completing achievements is a great little incentive to play past games to their fullest.
Gears of War 3 will be available on Xbox 360 on September 20.
