Microsoft hasn’t committed the Xbox 360 to 3D technology, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t interested. The company is gaging the market’s reaction to the technology, before they make any long-term investments. When asked about 3D integration into Microsoft products, David Dennis, Xbox Senior Product Manager, responded, “Something we’re watching and wanting to understand from consumers is whether this is something they actually want.”
Dennis went on to question consumers’ long-term interest in 3D, stating, “Does it add to the gaming experience? Does it distract from the gaming experience? Is it something they want to play long-term? Or is it something they try a few times and then go back to regular 2D modes?” While definitely not expressing any enthusiasm with the idea, it seems that Microsoft isn’t ruling it out. Dennis ended saying, “If there’s other things we want to do with 3D because consumers are asking for we would explore it.”
