Gears of War and Gears 2 were both deemed as unacceptable entertainment by the German Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons (BPJM). However, Gears of War 3 has been approved to be sold in Germany, and better yet, the game will be sold in the country without any edits having to be made.
This will be the first Gears title to be published in Germany during the franchise’s history, opening the series to a completely new market. Gamers in Germany will have to be 18 years of age or older to purchase Gears of War 3. The BPJM claims that they found no evidence that would give "relevance for a ban.”
