While Gears of War 3 is thought to be the end of a trilogy, Epic Game's Cliff Bleszinski speaks out on the future of the franchise to the amazing gaming website Ripten.com. The sequel is one of Microsoft's best selling exclusives, and the development team acknowledges that it would be foolish to not capitalize on this fact.
"Gears 1 and 2 sold about 6 million copies, so if this game comes out and, God willing, sells 8 or 10 million it would be completely dumb to not do another one, right? It's just business 101."
As to where they might go if they do develop a fourth entry, Cliff had this to say, "Well, there's always the Peter Jackson route. Do The Hobbit or something like that."
Gears of War 3 will launch on September 20.
