A little while back, it was announced that a Mass Effect film was indeed in the works and is expected to arrive in theaters sometime during 2012. Aside from the fact that the movie will be closely tied to the events of the first game, little else has been revealed.
However, at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego, screenwriter Mark Protosevich and executive producer Casey Hudson shared a few words regarding the highly anticipated film. The two acknowledged the fact that too often film makers get "seduced into thinking a game you are playing would be a good movie." According to Protosevich, the issue with game-based movies in the past has been due to the fact that many have tried to bring the gaming experience to the silver screen, rather than carving out a unique and intriguing story.
While these words are certainly encouraging, I think gamers have a right to remain skeptical. We've all been burned by way too many terrible tie-ins.
