Comic-Con 2011 has officially come to a close, and over the past few days we’ve been in recovery mode, overcoming the sheer awesomeness of the event. We’ve seen a lot of panels, played a lot of games and had some terrific, unforgettable moments that will stay with us well into 2012, and maybe even a little past that. But, in case you’ve missed the event for some reason (or just didn’t have the opportunity to pick up passes), fret net. We’re recapping the ten coolest video game moments we’ve run across at the event. Sure, they may not be ENTIRELY Xbox 360 related in a few cases, but there’s no questioning their greatness. Here now, in no particular order, are our top 10 favorite video game moments from Comic-Con 2011.
The Batman: Arkham City panel: We did attend a pre-panel presser where we had Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill and Paul Dini in the room, alongside Rocksteady Games, talking about the forthcoming Batman sequel. But the real joy came from the panel, where all sorts of great stories, behind-the-scenes comments and other goodies came up. Perhaps the main highlight involved Mark Hamill, a little inebriated from what we could see, talking up Joker stories, with Kevin Conroy occasionally talking about the inspiration behind Batman, as well as an “Oh, baby!” for good measure.
The Activision panel: When you have a panel that includes the sizzling Jamie Chung, the provocative Val Kilmer, and the undeniable awesomeness of Stan Lee, you can’t go wrong. Panelists kept changing throughout this panel, talking about X-Men Destiny and Spider-Man Edge of Time, but there were always a few enlightening moments, whether it was Kilmer talking about how a bad guy doesn’t have to choose which girl he ends up with, or Lee pouring on the praise for the Activision teams before asking for money, as only he can. It was really a terrific panel, and lots of fun.
The Mass Effect 3 hub: Across the street from the Comic-Con event was a cool little Mass Effect 3 headquarters, where fans could take part in all kinds of fun, getting temporary N7 tattoos put wherever they wanted by beautiful women; snagging inflatable Omniblades in which they could parade around with; and, most importantly, getting hands-on with the long-awaited sequel, as well as Star Wars: The Old Republic and the new Dragon Age II: Legacy expansion. This was one of the coolest places to be if you couldn’t get into the big event. And how.
