Gears of War looks set to make an appearance in cinemas with New Line winning the rights to make a movie based on the game.
The news comes via Variety.com, who report that Stuart Beattie will do the writing, with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey producing.
[The] story, which is only modestly developed in the game, is about a world reeling from an invasion by aliens known as the Locust. A small group of elite soldiers, including the main character Marcus Fennix, who is rescued from prison at the beginning of the game, fight to retake the planet Sera for its surviving humans.
Let's hope this one fares better than the attemped Halo movie, which was stalled after Universal and Fox didn't like the final budget figures.
