Bobby Kotick had a few things to say in Activision’s Earnings Announcement earlier today. Among the main points, Kotick revealed that numbers for Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders “significantly exceeded” the numbers of pre-orders for Black Ops, at this time last year. According to sales charts, Black Ops had 405,000 pre-orders 15 weeks before the game’s release last year. Modern Warfare 3 is currently 15 weeks from release, but has a much higher 947,000 pre-orders lined up.
GameStop and GAME have both noted the rise in pre-orders between these two games, so it is no surprise that this was reported in Activision’s report.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released on November 8 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
