A lot of games are going 3D as of late, trying to introduce players to a new dimension of gaming. Most of Sony’s titles do it, and a few do it on Xbox 360 as well, including Call of Duty: Black Ops and Green Lantern.
Well, add one more to the mix... and it’s a biggie. Eurogamer has revealed that Gears of War 3 is the latest title to go 3D, enabling players to see everything in a whole new light when they go to battle on September 20th.
"It felt like something we wanted to have. It was a feature we didn't want to be deficient in," Gears producer Rod Fergusson told Eurogamer. "When you look at Gears 1, it was what people used to demo HD at the time."
Granted, it won’t be perfect HD-quality 3D, as some sacrifices had to be made in the game’s development to make it look good in the format. "Instead of 720p you're at five something," Fergusson said. "It's a little bit jaggier in certain areas." He was basically looking for a post-processing effect that "generally works," something the team is quite proud of.
We’ll see how the effect holds up when Gears 3 pops onto shelves next month. HURRY UP ALREADY!
