Welcome back to the Forecast! This week only brings one retail release and a couple of downloadable games, along with a cool accessory that no Mortal Kombat fan should be without. Let’s check it out!
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Square Enix, August 23)- The long awaited sequel to the Xbox Deus Ex: Invisible War is finally upon us, and it looks like it’ll be worth the wait. Along with a trailblazing new visual engine that brings this futuristic world to vivid life, the game will also feature plenty of slick combat and cover, along with plenty of augmentations to play around with as you try to perfect your super-soldier. Check out our review now!
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online (Capcom August 24)- One of the best fighting games in the community to date is finally making its debut on Xbox Live this coming week, for the reasonable price of 1200 Microsoft points. The game features retouched visuals to bring the most out of Xbox Live, along with a slew of fighters and extras that will appeal to fans everywhere. In addition, you can challenge friends online and unlock all sorts of new goodies, while having the time of your life beating everyone to a pulp. We’ll review it next week in our XBLA Week In Review!
Call of Duty Rezurrection (Activision, August 23)- The fourth -- and perhaps final -- Map Pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops arrives this Tuesday, with five zombie-exclusive maps to run through, including a special Moon one. Yes, you can kill zombies on the moon. Amazeballs, right? The pack will set you back 1,200 Microsoft points, and we’ll have a review before we take off for PAX. And who knows -- we might give away a few codes as well. Stay tuned!
Hole in the Wall (WB Games, August 24)- If you watch Cartoon Network often, chances are you caught a glimpse at a game show where contestants try to line themselves up with a silhouette moving towards them on a stable wall. Get through it and they’ll win prizes. Fail and they’ll get dunked in a pool of water. The game works the same way, as you perform motions on your Kinect to avoid obstacles and score big points. We’ll review this one next week on XBLA Week In Review. We can say, though, it’s great to see another Kinect-supported game on the service!
Mortal Kombat Klassik Fight Stick (PDP, August 25)- If the dedicated Mortal Kombat controller that came with the Kollector’s Edition of the game didn’t light your fire, chances are this collectible will. Made with the same materials (and design) of the original Mortal Kombat arcade game, this one provides both comfort and accuracy as you beat up your opponents. Furthermore, this $129.99-priced peripheral also comes with a download code for the Mortal Kombat Trilogy on XBLA, including Mortal Kombat, MK II and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. If that doesn’t put you in a fighting mood, nothing will.
See you next time on the Forecast!
