Activision Blizzard reported some interesting (and large) numbers at the Analyst Day conference call event. According to the publishing giant, the company has sold 18 million map packs at $15 a piece to the Black Ops consumer base, which consists of over 23 million people.
These numbers mean that players spend an average $76 on Call of Duty: Black Ops, when the retail disc and downloadable content are taken into account. Only 11 million map packs had sold for Modern Warfare 2 in the same amount of time, though fewer map packs were released for that title.
Activision Blizzard also boasted a 22% year-over-year increase, making $1.7 billion compared to the previous year’s measly $1.4 billion. They didn’t stop bragging there. Apparently, there are 20 million monthly users across the Call of Duty franchise, and 15 million users for World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo. I guess I’d brag too.
