Whenever your parents tell you that playing video games is a waste of time, feel free to point to OpTic Gaming, who has just won $400,000 for playing Call of Duty. After winning first place at the Call of Duty XP Event, one of the team members from OpTic Gaming was quoted as saying, “No college debt -- that's how I feel, baby!” We assume that’s got to feel pretty good.
OpTic Gaming had the edge over UK team, Infinity, dominating at Capture the Flag and Domination. Infinity gained some ground after a game of Kill Confirmed, but OpTic Gaming put the nail in the coffin with a final game of Search and Destroy. Infinity took second place, winning $200,000, which is still nothing to scoff at.
The moral of this story is that video games are not a waste of time. You can enter contests and competitions and win hundreds of thousands of dollars. Or you could become a video game journalist, but that might require effort... And honestly, who wants to do that?
