It’s finally here. After so many months of waiting, a painful delay, an awesome beta and literally countless hours of us talking about it, we can finally rest at ease knowing Gears of War 3 has FINALLY arrived exclusively on the Xbox 360. And Microsoft’s killer app definitely lives up to the hype, as you can tell from our praise-worthy review (click here to read). But what if that isn’t enough to convince you to pick it up? What are you nuts? Why would you not pick it up? Paycheck? Buy the game and eat mac and cheese for a few days. Girlfriend? Hey, a true one would understand the plight you need to put up with regarding Delta Squad. (Hell, an even better one would JOIN you in co-op.) Broken Xbox? Hey, there’s a great new one to buy. That said, we have ten reasons (in completely random and meaningless order) why you need to pick up Gears of War 3 (exclusively on the Xbox 360 - now available in stores). Just shut up and give the list of 10 reasons you can't resist Gears of War 3 a read then head up to your favorite game retailer, you’ll thank us later.
10. Going Into the Third Dimension: So you have a fancy 3D TV and think that the only way you can experience great gaming is with the PlayStation 3? Well, sure, it has its handful of great games that support the format, but you’ll want to play Gears with it. That’s right, Gears of War 3 supports Stereoscopic 3D using TriOviz for Games Technology. While it may not be the kind of flawless 1080p that the PS3 puts out, it’s deep and effective enough that you won’t give a damn. Especially the first time blood splatters on screen. NASTY.
9. That Gears of War 3 controller/system are pretty rad: We won’t lie. Right now we have a black Xbox 360 250 GB slim and it’s killing us that we can’t upgrade to the new Gears of War 3 320 GB system yet, due to the lack of a transfer cable. No matter – this is still worth owning. You get a decked out console with custom sounds from the game when you turn it on and open the tray, two wireless controllers with the nifty turn-around D-pad, exclusive DLC, and a copy of the game. That’s a deal you can’t pass up, folks. Still, if you can’t afford it, there’s the next best thing…
8. Epic Edition is actually EPIC: If you think $150 is a ridiculous price to pay for a game, you haven’t seen what the Gears of War 3 Epic Edition packs. We’re talking all sorts of good stuff. A Marcus Fenix limited edition statue. A 96 page art book. An exclusive Adam Fenix character. New weapon skins. Documentation via a cool Octus Award Box. And there’s even more waiting inside this package. Worth every penny. (The Limited Edition isn’t too bad either – though it’s lacking that statue.)
