While speaking about the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Alexandre Amacio (Creative Lead of Assassin’s Creed), mentioned that the next entry in the series will conclude the story of Desmond.
While it was pretty much expected at this point that we'd be getting Assassin's Creed III next year, it wasn't clear yet where Ubisoft would be headed. Fortunately, Amacio has cleared it up for us.
The Ezio and Altair storylines will be wrapping up in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, however Desmond’s story will continue following the end of Revelations. Desmond’s story focuses on the world ending in 2012 and Amacio explains that the story needs to be completed by then.
“In Assassin’s Creed we set up a timeline with this whole end of the world plot of December 2012. That’s fast approaching, and the story we have to tell, we obviously need to do it before we arrive at that point,” Amacio explained. “We had such a complex and strong narrative that we ourselves did our best to just try to execute these games before that date. It would be stupid of us to be centering a game on a semi-reality and then have that conclusion happen after that date in real life.”
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will debut on store shelves November 15th, and it's now safe to assume that the follow-up is expected to release during the holiday 2012 season.
