Microsoft has officially acquired the extremely talented Twisted Pixel, the dev team who is responsible for bringing us XBLA classics like The Gunstringer, Splosion Man and The Maw.
This is an incredibly smart move on the part of Microsoft, as Twisted Pixel is responsible for some of the most innovative titles this generation. The team bleeds creativity, which is something Microsoft can certainly use if they plan on supporting the Kinect with compelling software in the future. Judging by how awesome The Gunstringer is, it looks like Twisted Pixel has a solid grasp on the hardware - so expect to see additional Kinect-focused titles from the team in the future.
Microsoft Studios boss Phil Spencer shared his excitement over the purchase, saying, “Twisted Pixel has an incredible track record of innovative, critically acclaimed, and most importantly, fun, games. Microsoft Studios is home to cutting-edge entertainment experiences, and the incredible creativity of the Twisted Pixel team will help drive further innovation around Kinect and Xbox LIVE.”
