Five Reasons Batman: Arkham City is the Best Game of this Generation

    by Alex Osborn

Whether you're a comic fan or not, it's hard to deny how awesome DC Comic's Batman universe is. With at plethora of supporting characters, villains and the Caped Crusader himself, there is so much to love about the world of Batman. That is why Rocksteady's followup to the breakout success Arkham Asylum is hands down the best game of this generation.

Don't believe us? Here are five compelling reasons that Batman: Arkham City takes the cake:

    5. Unique, Rewarding Combat - The ability to create an intuitive, yet complex gameplay scheme is incredibly difficult and something that few developers manage to achieve. Rocksteady has mastered this art with some of the most exciting combat seen in any action game. The game encourages players to focus on timing their attacks strategically, by forcing gamers to master a number of counter moves, special attacks and gadgetry. Often times action games are reduced to being button mashers, but Arkham City rewards those who nail down the proper timing. Not only that, but the player can upgrade Batman and teach him new attacks, improve his armor, etc. To put it simply, the game's combat is remarkably deep and yet never overwhelming or daunting to those who are turned off by leveling trees and massive menus.

    4. Robust Cast of Characters - If you consider yourself a Batman fan, then just about every character you can remember is in the game and then some. From Mark Hamill's Joker to Nolan North's Penguin, the game doesn't only feature some of the most iconic villains of all time, they are also voice acted by some of the best talent in the industry. I'll even go so far as to say that this game has the best voice acting I have ever heard in a game. With carefully constructed and well-written cameos for just about every character in the franchise's universe, the game isn't short on thrilling moments.
