The people at Rockstar Games want players to know that they can expect the greatest in gameplay innovation from Max Payne 3. They’re hammering this with a series of videos about the design and technology that went into the third installment of Max Payne. The latest video in the series focuses on the precise targeting system.
This new targeting system allows players to run and gun in a way never before experienced in a third-person view. Third-person shooters have, until recent years, been associated with clunky controls, and Max Payne 3 didn’t want to follow suit. Rather, Rockstar Games found a way to move the character in a fluid motion, while still allowing for precise targeting. The video is made entirely of in-game footage, highlighting the game’s natural-looking mechanics, an easy targeting system, and a very refined camera. Be sure to check out the video embedded below. Max Payne 3 is slated for a May 15th, 2012 release on the Xbox 360 and PS3. A PC version will be released two weeks later on May 29th, 2012.
