Sega has confirmed that Aliens: Colonial Marines is being pushed from its original Spring 2012 release window and landing in Fall 2012. Sega and Gearbox Software released a joint statement explaining the decision to delay the title.
“Aliens: Colonial Marines is a process of creativity and invention and those don't necessarily follow the structure of an assembly line. While setting clear goals, deadlines and predictions is helpful, they are often subjective. We don't want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritizing this goal over the previously targeted date.”
Gamers should appreciate the fact that a developer and publisher are willing to take the time to optimize a game to its full potential, rather than shipping it out as soon as possible. Deep Silver made that mistake with Dead Island last August and gamers were not too enthusiastic about it. Aliens: Colonial Marines is aiming for a Fall 2012 release on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
