Two brand new developer diaries have been released for the insanity-driven snowboarding game, SSX. These videos highlight the new online functionalities to be included in the game’s multiplayer. The first video discusses the ability to play against your friends whether they are online or not. When playing online, SSX automatically saves a ghost for a player’s best time and best score for every single level of the game. If a player wants to play against a friend that is currently offline, the player can simply play against his friend’s ghost. Beating the offline friend’s ghost will result in a reward of in-game currency. Your friend will also receive in-game currency if his ghost remains unbeaten.
In the second video, Todd Batty, the Creative Director for SSX, discusses Geo tags. Batty described Geo tags as “essentially user-generated collectibles.” Geo tags can be earned through playing the game. When a player possesses a Geo tag, the player can go to any level and hide it anywhere on the mountain side. If a friend finds it, that friend receives in-game currency. However, the longer your friends don’t get a hold of the Geo tag, the more in-game currency you earn. Learn more about these features in the videos embedded on this page. SSX is coming out on February 28th, 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
