The cover art for Gears of War: The Slab has been unveiled today; an illustration by Art Director Chris Perna and Senior Artist Mike Buck. The cover shows a distraught Marcus Fenix sitting in a prison cell of The Slab, the most inhumane and depressing prison in all of Sera. The Slab is the fifth book in the Gears of War series of novels, written by Karen Traviss, who wrote the four previous books in addition to being the head writer for Gears of War 3.
The Slab follows Marcus Fenix on his journey to prison. After abandoning his post in order to save his father’s life, Marcus Fenix is convicted of dereliction of duty and sentenced to 40 years in a maximum security prison, also known as The Slab. While Dom and Anya try to appeal for Marcus’ freedom, Fenix makes friends with the convicts on the inside. Meanwhile, Marcus’ father Adam has been given his own prison sentence, on the island of Azura.
