“The 360 [version of Witcher 2] is actually an adaptation of the PC title and not a simple port,” states John Mamais, Head of Production for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. He goes on to explain, “What we mean by adaptation is to effectively rebuild the game so that it feels native to the console. We’ve re-written the renderer and created new rendering pipelines that we can achieve much better performance with the same fidelity as in the PC version. We’re also implementing a new intelligent camera system, new controls, a new targeting system, and a more console-friendly user interface.” This is all revealed in the first minute of a 5-minute long developer diary for the Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.
There is a lot more information divulged in the video embedded below. The developers go in-depth to discuss how combat has improved, how the menu-systems have been made less distracting for the Xbox 360 version, and the graphical shift from PC to console. “The Witcher 2 will be one of the best looking titles to come out for the Xbox 360,” level artist Jonas Mattsson promises. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is slated for April 17th, 2012 for the Xbox 360.
