Microsoft has recently demonstrated the coming external HD-DVD player for the Xbox 360 at the DVD Forum event in Los Angeles, but would still not comment on price or release date questions.
Microsoft's senior program manager, Kevin Collins, carried out the demo and refused to give a defininte price point or release date for the unit, instead only saying that it would be among the least expensive HD DVD players to reach the market.
Collins noted that the majority of Xbox 360 owners have high definition displays, and that with the external HD DVD player, they will then be able to watch proper HD movies. He also commented that, "All the audio and video processing is done inside the Xbox [360]."
Microsoft have already said that the player will be released some time this year and Microsoft are expected to make both a pricing and release date announcement shortly.
