Sega Reveals Musical Tastes in The Club

    by Matt Gibbs

Sega today revealed some of the musical secrets behind the world’s most deadliest organization, The Club. Award winning, classically trained composer and long time Sega favorite, Richard Jacques has been commissioned to score the music throughout the single-player campaign. Alongside Richard’s music are tracks from Chris Chudley for the multiplayer levels and a main theme composed by Jesper Kyd. A fast-paced, refreshing take on third-person shooters, The Club is being developed by Bizarre Creations, the esteemed independent British developer responsible for the hugely popular Project Gotham Racing series and the dangerously addictive arcade smash hits Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved and Boom Boom Rocket.

With a glowing career in the games industry Richard Jacques has worked his way from in-house musician at Sega Europe right through to becoming one of the most sought after musicians the industry has ever seen. The first video game composer to secure a major budget for a live symphony orchestra, the first to have his game music featured in art galleries and live concerts in Europe, Japan and North America, and the first western composer to have his game soundtracks released commercially in Japan as well as Europe and North America are just the tip of Richard’s musical iceberg. With recent work for some of the world's largest advertising agencies, alongside hugely well known brands, Richard has seen his career take on many new directions whilst still maintaining his incredible work ethic and taking huge pride in every project he undertakes.

Having worked with both Sega and Bizarre Creations on the critically acclaimed Metropolis Street Racer on Dreamcast, Richard jumped at the chance to team up once again and provide some good old thumping beats to match the fast pace, high intensity, run and gun gameplay of The Club.

I am delighted to be working with Sega and Bizarre Creations once again”, said Richard Jacques. “Having previously worked on the music and sound design of the genre defining Metropolis Street Racer, I was extremely pleased to be chosen to provide tracks for The Club. Sega and Bizarre Creations have a sure fire hit on their hands and it’s great to be a part of it.

Not content with just one megastar games musician Sega and Bizarre Creations turned to Jesper Kyd, a British Academy award winner and writer of extremely high quality games music, to provide the theme music for The Club. Having written original scores for some of the industry’s biggest games, Jesper brings a wealth of experience and perfectly compliments The Club with a superb theme tune.

Chris Chudley has been creating game music for Bizarre Creations since Project Gotham Racing 2. Players familiar with Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved will recognize his tight beats and ability to write music that perfectly suits the pace of the game. His tunes for the multiplayer sections of The Club perfectly meet the intensity and franticness of the various modes on offer and give players a fantastic experience.

The Club The Club is scheduled for release across Europe on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC during winter 2007.
