Unfortunately, when you enter a lag-laden game, it can make the game too frustrating to deal with. Bombermen will be in one spot one moment, then across the screen next; turning sure-fire kills into possible deaths if said player dropped a bomb on you before leaping through the screen. If you manage to get in a game with all solid connections, the issue hardly ever happens; but you will end up with at least one poor connection in your game all too often.
The larger issue with online play is the odd glitch that will split the game into those who think the game is still being played, and others who correctly see a game results screen. The game seems to continue, with one or more non-moving bombermen standing around - but unable to die. The only way to move forward is for the 'sixth sense' bombermen (dead, but do not realize it) to kill themselves to bring everyone to the same game results screen. The situation is frustrating and more than a little confusing at first, but after the first time or two you run into the glitch you will know what to do.

Without any real 'levels' to play through to beat the game, your enjoyment of Bomberman Live! will depend on three things - the number of players in your own house, how much you want to play over Live, or how badly you want to collect all the costumes. The random costume drops and incredibly clever Achievements will keep gamers playing this one for weeks on end; beyond that, the addictive gameplay will make it hard to put down the controller, even with the few obvious blemishes in Live gameplay and limited single-player levels.
